Peniche, Portugal, is home to some of the best surfing in all of Europe. Often compared to locations like Banzai Pipeline in Hawaii, the area earned the nickname “European Pipeline.” Set on a peninsula, there are always opportunities for surfing no matter which way the wind is blowing.
Corey knew in advance the type of shot he wanted to capture that day: “I like to plan the photos out ahead in my mind. You don’t know what Mother Nature is going to throw at you, but you still try to plan for what you are looking for. Then you make the best of whatever happens. But you come with a plan.
“We were here with a group of friends. We had an old Land Cruiser, and pulled up on this big mountain with really great waves below. We camped for the day and had a nice fire here. I caught this shot while my friends were getting ready for the evening surf.”
