Behind the Shot
“Edinburgh is a city that’s just amazing and has its own unique charm,” says photographer Henrike Schenk. “The historic city center with all of it historic buildings is one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited. It was the last stop on my road trip through Scotland, and I was so excited to finally see this place with my own eyes.”
While strolling the old streets and enjoying the bagpipe players here and there, Schenk noticed a cute cafe where she could watch the crowds passing by through. “You feel like you’ve been placed in a movie scene.”
This photo was taken on the famous Victoria Street in the heart of the city. Because it was a busy day and she didn’t want any people in the picture, she decided to take a different approach to composition than she originally had in mind. “I wanted to highlight all the colorful flags that bring nostalgic, happy vibes to the picture under the dark gray clouds.”
