Behind the Shot
After living in Covid isolation throughout 2020, photographer Henrike Schenk wanted something to “stir up creativity” when restrictions were lifted. Flying still wasn’t approved, so she decided to take a road trip from her home in the Netherlands to the south of France. She felt that this trip was what she needed to get back into travel photography after being locked down for so long.
In a “perfect moment,” she rounded a corner in the picturesque village of Gordes, and the view of the village in the warm weather stopped her in her tracks. She got out of the car and took this shot—her first in a year. It was worth the wait.
