Behind the Shot
Kelsey was shooting at home in Oahu when suddenly the sky lit up electric pink and orange. She wasn’t planning on shooting the sunset that night, but who can say no to skies like that?
“The sky was insane. It looked like it was on fire,” she says. She ran outside with her camera so she wouldn’t miss the moment. “You can’t really predict when the sky is going to light up like that,” but luckily, she had her camera and captured several swaying palm trees atop a dazzling cotton candy cloud backdrop. “Those colors don’t happen very often in nature,” she says. But when they do, it’s incredible. “It almost feels like you’re on another planet. I wish the sky could look like that every day.”
