Behind the Shot
In Hawaiian culture, when someone dies, memorials called paddle-outs are commonly held to celebrate the life of the deceased. After the death of George Floyd in the summer of 2020, a three-day paddle-out was held in his honor in Honolulu.
On the third day, the crowd in the water spontaneously formed the shape of a heart, and photographer Connor Trimble was able to capture that magical moment from his drone. This print shows us that love really is all around, and there’s nothing more powerful than that.
