Behind the Shot
“It was so nice to see people enjoying their summer,” says photographer Henrike Schenk. After being in lockdown for more than a year, she took a trip to Italy’s Amalfi Coast and reveled in seeing life slowly getting back to normal. People sunbathing, splashing in the ocean, and having fun was a joyous thing to witness after she and everyone else had spent so much time at home. Henrike knew she wanted to immortalize that jubilance.
She walked around the Marina Grande beach and the small village of Amalfi for hours, taking pictures and soaking everything in. Even though this image was taken in an unprecedented time in history, the black and white editing gives it a decidedly vintage touch and timeless feel.
