Behind the Shot

Morgan worked for a resort in Panama for a couple of years, helping with marketing and social media. While there, he took advantage of the opportunity to explore the hidden locations and lesser-known spots that make Panama one of the most beautiful locales in the world.

One of those locations, the Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park, located in the Bocas del Toro Archipelago in Panama, is home to Cayos Zapatilla, two uninhabited islands famous for their pristine white-sand beaches, coral reefs and dense forests.

“We were in Zapatilla Islands in Bocas del Toro when we shot these,” Morgan recalls. “My friend lent me his underwater housing so I could experiment with some water shots of Grace. This was the first time I’d ever used a housing, and it totally changed the way I shot. Camera controls are different, and the photos were much more spontaneous—more gestural.

“Grace was really at ease. She was relaxed in the surf. The water was so warm and totally clear, it was like glass. The way the waves rippled around her made it look like she’s suspended in ice.”
