Behind the Shot
Captured at Teahupo’o in French Polynesia, Last One freezes a magical moment at the close of day—a surfer gliding out of the barrel as the soft glow of sunset begins to wrap around the ocean. It was the last big wave of the day, following hours of beauty and motion on the water.
Photographer Ryan Borne reflects, “The wind had died down, the atmosphere was peaceful, and the light felt like a gentle embrace. It was the perfect finale to a remarkable day—hence the name, Last One.”
The shot balances power and tranquility. The wave’s energy contrasts with the calm evening light, while the surfer rides with quiet focus. This print brings a warm, reflective energy to any space—a reminder that sometimes the best moments come at day’s end, when everything slows and you can simply breathe it all in.
