The Lofoten Islands in Northern Norway are known for their dramatic scenery, picturesque fishing villages, hiking and kayaking, and the dramatic Northern Lights and Midnight Sun. This stunning archipelago is a popular destination for nature lovers and adventurers, boasting craggy mountains, crystal-clear seas, sheltered bays and untouched lands. Deep within this wild and untamed Arctic Circle terrain, photographer Chris Henry stumbled upon the quaint fishing village of Sakrisøy. This hamlet still sends many maritime vessels into the Norwegian Sea and boasts a wide array of whimsically colored lodges. The breathtaking landscapes of the Lofoten Islands are intensified by the varied weather and ever-changing skies and light—producing a wealth of tableaux for photographers to capture. Chris found this scene in Sakrisøy irresistible. Jagged rocks and inky waters contrast with the vivid hues of the matching shelter and boat, while a triangular mountain looms in the background and perfectly frames the village.
