Kelsey Williamson added a touch of magic when she placed a star filter on her camera to photograph this surfer in the Indonesian Mentawai Islands. She was mesmerized by the surfer’s connection with the ocean. The lens caused the sea to shimmer and sparkle with an ethereal quality as the surfer concluded an invigorating session on the water.
“As the afternoon light gently descended, I seized the opportunity to enhance the ambience of this shot by attaching a star filter to my camera,” Kelsey explains. “I aimed to capture the transcendent sight of the surfer relishing a serene moment while the sun cast its radiant glow upon the glistening ocean.”
Kelsey chose to convert the photo to black-and-white, monochromatic tones to accentuate the interplay of light and shadows.
