Terry absolutely loves visiting and photographing in Paris. “For me it’s about the architecture and street photography. The compositions are crazy here with all the lined streets and angles.”
The layout of the streets may seem chaotic to visitors, but the design is very intentional, thanks to the work of Georges-Eugène Haussmann. Emperor Napoleon III selected Haussman to completely redesign the city of Paris in the mid to late 1800s, demolishing much of the overcrowded medieval neighborhoods and modernizing the city with sewers, plumbing and wider boulevards. The rings of streets designed by Louis XVIII during the Bourbon Restoration were connected by a new system of wide boulevards cutting sharp angles through the older winding and narrow streets.
